Having been in business for over 40 years — based in Vancouver but operating on a global scale — Ratana set out to refresh their brand strategy and visual approach.
They embarked on this journey with The Fold Branding Collective, who turned to me to work with them on shaping the strategy (audience personas, brand purpose, values, key stories, personality, tone of voice, language use, brand story, positioning statement, and tagline).
Copy elements from this strategy were applied to social media, catalogue, and trade show content.

Our family at Ratana shares an intimacy with open-air landscapes, which has only deepened since the relationship began in 1980 in the Pacific Northwest. At first, we designed both indoor and outdoor furniture — specifically, wickerwork aesthetics. We came to realize the striking differences between the two environments, and the unique requirements to produce furniture that thrives outdoors. We were inspired to focus our attention on the thoughtful designs that live side-by-side with the elements.
