Boffo returned to its longstanding familial roots in Burnaby with their largest community to date. Bassano by Boffo is a four-tower masterplan community in Brentwood. An intimate village experience is elevated with exceptional livability and design standards — where moments are enriched by meaningful connections with place, people, and self. Bassano by Boffo is deeply connected to family traditions — specifically, Boffo’s Italian roots. This called for a meaningful narrative.
Free Agency Creative developed the visual identity and the project’s theme before turning to me to create a tone of voice and story narrative. From here, I worked on a full copy build out for the marketing campaign. For the brochure, before getting into project details, we started each section with a short essay on living — a story to tug on emotions.

Think of the moments that form a beautiful life. The aromas and flavours. Loved ones — family and friends — gathered in celebration around a table. Laughter sailing to the ceiling. Glasses clinking with well wishes for the future. Stories travelling the room, bringing people closer together, inspiring dreams and creativity and awareness. These moments may be planned or spontaneous. They may only last an hour or stretch through the night. They are memories — a feeling — you hope to replicate again and again.
Togetherness is an essential element of a life well lived — and it starts with family. As you move through life, there’s an attraction to the places and people where you experience belonging. Those that mirror the nature of family — intimate and comfortable, reliable and inclusive.
It’s here, in the presence of others or within certain landscapes, that you encounter the spirit of discovery — injecting life with vitality.
Anticipate the joy of uncovering new perspectives and ways of being. The satisfaction of understanding another layer of self. The sense that something wonderful may happen at any time — and become one of those moments that make a beautiful life.
Bassano by Boffo is inspired by these sentiments of family, togetherness, and discovery.

At its heart, livability is when the rhythm of everyday life harmonizes with the built environment. When evolving moods and needs are catered to. When comfort and delight come naturally. When you feel part of something, a purpose for being.
An array of indoor and outdoor landscapes are a must. Quiet corners. Social enclaves. Fresh air and greenery. Warmth. Places where you feel satiated whether alone or with others. Spaces that offer different experiences that speak to health, belonging, and the basic practicalities of life.
Moving through home and its surroundings should be a voyage. With serendipity, intrigue, and joy woven into the expected.
Livability shines in immersive spaces layered with detail— making even the new feel storied. Textures, materiality, tones, and plantings are curated to add interest and evoke emotion.
In Italian towns, like Bassano del Grappa, this sense of livability is commonplace. The centuries-old villages are complete with food, nature, culture, and people. Life is satisfying.
This rich, multidimensional narrative was a catalyst when we came to imagine livability at Bassano.
Home is the most personal expression of an individual or a family. To truly know somebody, simply spend time in the spaces where they live.
Run fingertips along book spines to understand how they think, to know the worlds they escape to. A glimpse at art and décor can reveal their travels or their culture. Open the refrigerator, the cabinets, the pantry, and discover the degree of their culinary finesse. A peek inside the wardrobe will show you how they present themselves to the outside— and how they turn to comfort when inside. Perfectly stacked towels or unmade beds. Family photos and heirlooms and nostalgic keepsakes. Healthy plants. A well-loved dog bed. Growing heights marked on a door frame.
These are all markers of an identity, habits, history, loves, and needs. But for any unique, everyday life to flourish there must be a foundation. The surfaces, forms, palettes, and details that support memories and moments. Home is much more than a place to live. It’s an intricate system of function, comfort, and style.
There’s no place more important than the home. It’s where you come alive. Where your story is written.
